"Reading is to the mind as exercise is to the body." -Joseph Addison

The Brackman Library is open during school hours, but students must have a pass from their teacher to come to the library.  If a student needs to stay after to use the computers, I am always willing to stay with them as long as they have parental permission and a ride home.  The library has over 19,000 books, videos and magazines available to the students and staff.   Students can check out books for 2 weeks at a time and can be renewed for an additional 2 weeks if necessary.

News and upcoming events:

"RIFE" -  Reading Is For Everyone  -  During the week of December 12-16, students came to the library with their ELA teacher and  selected a free book of their choice to keep and enjoy.    Thank you to the ROBMS PTA for donating $500 towards the purchase of books for the 2016-2017 school year  RIFE program.   We thank the PTA for their continued support of the library and the RIFE program.

During the week of February 27th - March 3rd we celebrated "Read Across America" with Dr. Seuss trivia each day.  At the end of the week we had two "drop everything and read", encouraging students to read  for 10 minutes.
New books arrive weekly for students to check out.

The Library Assistants program has been a success.  Seventh and eighth grade students, interested in the library,   bookdrop books, check students in/out, restock shelves, put labels on new books and more.   Sixth grade students interested in applying to be Library Assistants for next year can apply after May 15th.

Book Fair Update -

The Fall Scholastic Book Fair opened on Friday, March 10th and ran through March 17th .  This year's theme was "Happy Camper Book Fair - S'more Fun With Books".  Preview fliers went home and the students saw very intriguing "book trailers" for some of the books at the book fair during their ELA Class.   16 students received a lucky lottery certificate in their locker which gave them the opportunity to pick one free book of their choice from the book fair.   We received $945.82 in Scholastic Dollars to purchase books from the Scholastic Dollars Catalog or from the Scholastic Book warehouse.   The next book fair will take place in November 27 - December 1,2017.
