Classroom Guidelines Pre-Algebra (Accelerated)

  1. Each student should bring your textbook, notebook (preferably a binder) and a pencil to class each day.  All assignments handed-in to me must be completed in pencil.

  2. Notebooks should be divided into 3 sections:

  3. Quarterly averages are computed in the following manner:

                Class Participation:                               5%

                Homework:                                         10%

                Minor Assessments:                            30%

                Major Assessments:                            55%

  4. Notebooks may be checked by open-notebook quizzes or at least once a term.

  5. Homework assignments are written daily on the board and noted on the website at  You are responsible for writing each assignment in your notebook.

  6. Homework is due the next school day unless otherwise indicated.  All uncollected homework questions should be attempted to receive credit for the assignment.  At least one homework assignment will be collected and graded for accuracy on a weekly basis.  Uncollected homework assignments will be graded for completion as follows:

                Completed:                                                      100%

Attempted with more than 50% completed:          75%

                Attempted but not completed:                             50%

                No attempt:                                                        0%

  7. A class participation grade is also earned twice each quarter; once at the progress reporting period and once again at the end of each quarter.

  8. Students who are absent are responsible for obtaining assignments the first day they return to school.  Worksheets will be placed in the appropriate folder that will be marked by their period on the table.  If you are absent for an extended period of time, please speak to me to set up a due date to complete the missed assignments.

  9. Homework passes and market day tickets are used as positive reinforcement throughout the year.
